GROWING THRU GRIEF

September 27, 2016 @ 4:30 pm6:00 pm

A journey through the grieving process

A journey through the grieving process.

Each week a presentation is followed by small group discussion. On September 27, David Franzen will speak about How and When to Seek Counseling. Beginning October 4, Betsy Barton will lead a six-week series about the entire grief process.  Topics are:

October 4:  Finding Your Own Way Through Grief

October 11:  Exploring Our Early Experiences with Grief

October 18:  Ambiguous Grief

October 25:  The Spiritual Opportunities of Loss

November 1:  Meaning-Making After Loss

November 8:  Remembering and Re-Membering

Betsy Barton, MPH, has lived in Durham for 38 years and is committed to educating people in the community about dealing proactively with issues of serious illness, dying and grief.  One of her favorite places is the Eno River, where she has processed many a loss herself–and seen remarkable critters along the way.  She currently works part-time at Duke on research projects related to end of life.

Growing thru Grief meets every Tuesday, gathering at 4 pm for coffee and cookies. The meeting runs from 4:30-6 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1200 West Cornwallis, Durham.

Growing thru Grief is a coalition of area religious and civic organizations to offer support and education for those who mourn, centered on small group discussion.
