Outreach will be sponsoring the Red Bird Mission Craft Fair at Epworth UMC on Saturday, October 6th from 9 AM to 5 PM (or from 9 AM to 2 PM if it rains) and Sunday, October 7th from 10:15 AM to 1 PM (the fair will be closed during the 11 AM worship service). This will coordinate with the Fall Festival on Saturday.
Many of you may remember craft fairs from earlier years. The crafts are made in Appalachia and sales of the items provide income to the Red Bird Mission. The fair is a great place to buy unique Christmas gifts for family and friends. The mission, now a part of the United Methodist Church, was founded in 1921 in the southeastern corner of Kentucky. It was originally founded to provide evangelical ministries to residents of the area. Over the years the mission has expanded to provide educational opportunities, medical care, and even building homes.
The young lady who is coming to set up the fair needs a place to stay on October 4, 5, 6 and 7. If it makes the situation easier, it would be fine to volunteer for a two-day stay (the 4th and 5th together and the 6th and 7th together). We will also be asking for help with the set up and tear down. Stay tuned for details. Please contact Bill Matteson, 919-408-1967 for questions.
