Bread for the World

Bread for the World is a national, ecumenical Christian organization, which advocates legislation to help hungry and starving people in the U.S. and around the world. At the monthly meetings, participants receive timely information about legislation, pray, and write letters to Representatives and the President. Epworth participates in “Offerings of Letters” and observe Bread for the World Sunday in November.

Be a voter!

We encourage each eligible voter to register and to exercise your right to vote. Voting is the most important way to participate in our democracy.

The following information may be helpful:

  1. Please check your registration status to make sure your registration is ACTIVE and ACCURATE: https://vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup/
  2. You can register to vote (or update your address) ONLINE for FREE, it only takes a couple minutes: https://www.ncdot.gov/dmv/offices-services/online/Pages/voter-registration-application.aspx
  3. You can request a mail-in / absentee ballot so you don’t have to go in person. No reason required. Ballots will be mailed in September but can be requested now: https://www.ncsbe.gov/Voting-Options/Absentee-Voting
  4. Please consider getting trained as a poll worker. All those lines you’ve been seeing in Kentucky and Georgia could just as easily happen here because many poll workers are in the high-risk category for COVID, and poll sites without sufficient workers may close. Click here to apply to the State Board of Elections.

“So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

-Philippians 2:1-4
